Hunter Education Courses


Taught by California Department of Fish & Wildlife Certified Instructors
Students are instructed in firearm safety, sportsmanship, and firearm handling and operation.
Students age of 10 years or older is based on the written test level. Students must pass a written test at 80% and a practical handling and live fire section. 

2017 Class Schedule


Four courses are offered this year:

  • January 9, 10, 12 & 14
  • March 13 & 18
  • July 13 & 15
  • September 12 & 16

  • Each course runs 2 sessions:

  • Monday 5:00pm-10:00pm
  • Tuesday 5:00pm-10:00pm
  • Thursday 5:00pm-10:00pm
  • Saturday 7:00am-12:00pm


The Hunter Education class meets at the Santa Lucia Sportsmen's Gun Club at 10400 Santa Clara Rd. Students must attend all four dates for certification. Manuals will be supplied of the first meeting and payment of $12.00 to the SLSA Gun Club will be collected at that time.
